Less than 10,000 people vote. More than half are "logic challenged".
The dollar is crashing, the housing market is crashing, foreclosures are up, PROPERTY VALUATIONS ARE UP, personal wealth is down; and they vote for a tax increase. I don't get it..
It looks like Holcim Cement, might reopen the Coaldale Quarry. That's good news!
I think the voids in the gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O, Hydrated Calcium Sulfate) deposit present the largest challenge for the blaster as far as vibration control goes.
That is, knowing where they are in the blasthole and avoiding a decoupling effect and/or over loading in a hole. That and the water.
However,
Holcim will mainly be after the anhydrite
(CaSO4, anhydrous
calcium sulfate) and it always shot easier, being harder.
Correction! CaSO4 is what is used in the cement. It can come from Anhydrite or Gypsum.
And they have been blasting rock for decades in Fremont County.
Redgecko Internet did not work well for me. I spent one day fixing their problems and decided that was enough.

Note that this is more smoke/pollution than civilized humans have ever made combined in the area in last 15 (200?) years.

Although there is downward $ pressure from Fremont County foreclosures!
Fremont County Assessor sent Valuations out late - this is illegal?
Fremont County Assessor Stacey Seifert says:
IF the Point is that we want to make a protest, regardless of the value, on the fact the notices didn't go out the first of May, we always have, at any time if the year, the ability to use what's called a special notice of valuation, which can go out anytime from January to January for properties that were omitted ... or erroneous assessment.
"...and how you want to use that is totally up to you."
Yep, I protested and my valuation (assessors determination) went up. A dollar.
But one property was placed in a different tax district, (the Deer Mountain Fire Protection District! lol!) so then I appealed the determination...to the Fremont County Board of Equalization...which is the same Fremont County Commissioners...who apparently allowed him to send out the illegal (late) valuations in the first place.
Result: Assessor threatened to reassess a 1.6 acre parcel at $30,000, up from the previous year's assessment of $1520, with Commissioners Laska and Norden in obvious acquiescence.
It's more "revenue" and that appears their only concern. Nov 8, 2007 Update: I'm right!
It is taxation without representation. correction: It is tyranny.

Housing Foreclosures Jumped 90% in May From Year Ago
"Colorado came in second with one foreclosure filing for every 290 households, which was 2.3 times the national average. Colorado's foreclosure activity, at 6,231 foreclosure filings in May, rose 9 percent from the previous month and was an increase of more than 50 percent from May 2006"
