  Acetylene/Oxygen Safety page.

I'm not qualified to dictate to anyone the proper procedures for Acetylene/Oxygen welding/cutting operations.

However, over the years,  people that were qualified have told me "You need to know what you are doing."

It's finally sinking in!

So I'll pass along some info that might be helpful.

If you are not sure about the procedure, it might be a good idea to refresh your memory of the processes.

The Acetylene/Oxygen torch is a common tool.  Everybody knows how to use it. Right?

Maybe, Maybe not.

Why "Maybe" ?

Example: For years, Victor's Welding, Cutting & Heating Guide, Section 6, "When You Finish Your Cutting Operation", pp38,

had the improper shut-down sequence.

(we learned this in pre-Camp George West training)

here is the guide with the sequence corrected.

Please review the following safety guidelines for acetylene/oxygen torch set-up, start-up, and shut-down.

Very Important Procedures!

Here's another source with operating ranges:

Acetylene/Oxygen on/off procedures and operating ranges.

This is the Victor/Thermodyne site.  There are 244 pages here in pdf.
