Canon City Barn Addition Page 1
In the summer of 2007 we built an addition on the barn in Canon City. This is home to Patrols 59 and 65.
"Barn" is an old term from way back when maintenance raised their own chickens (ok, I don't know the origin); I should say "shop" as that term seems to be more in vogue these days.
I mostly got in the way, but it was a good learning experience to "help" out for a few weeks on this project. The skills levels these fellas exhibit far exceed the requirements of this job. No one was paid extra for this "extra" work. Projects like this save money for the taxpayer as opposed to contracting this work out. In our regular maintenance duties our work is often temporary - the guardrail repair is only good until it's hit again - whereas this type project yields a greater satisfaction in knowing the product will last longer.
Isn't it sad that nowadays we feel good about placing two boards at a right angle to each other? This in comparison to ancient architecture.
We were doing overlays on HWY 115 around this time and this spare time project got put on the back burner every now and then.

10-4! Seriously, it was built to code. (in Fremont County!) Chuck Decker
It was Jim's Diorio's idea. Making a door to fit was really difficult.
Finishing up the framing. Lots to do.
